BLACK and WHITE…..

Heard this on TV years ago.

A black man was talking to an all white audience in the town hall.
Standing on stage he declared loudly into the microphone- “ I am BLACK ”.
And went on. “ When I am angry I am BLACK . When I am sad I am BLACK .
When I am envious I am BLACK . No matter how and what, I remain BLACK ,

He then looked straight at his all white audience and boomed.
“But YOU….You are WHITE . But when you are angry you are RED . When sad you are BLUE .And when you are envious you turned GREEN. And YOU call ME coloured ?

PAS SHOULD…….. SHOULD PAS ?

Lantik Pegawai Khas kaum Cina bukan kerana pilihan raya - Salahuddin

Excerpts from Harakahdaily.

My friends in PAS will not be happy. I apologize but I’ll say it anyway. Non Muslims will not support them. Never have, never will. Everybody knows that, PAS members and leaders included.

Yes the party are making effort to cut across racial and religious barriers in reaching people of
different of faith but fact of the matter is – PAS cannot get the all round support needed to win elections at national level. Simply because PAS by its own admission is an “Islamic party” , wanting to wrest control of the nation via the ballot boxes and rule in an “Islamic way’. Lets not go into details or be judgmental but despite all the “assurances of fairness and justice” to be meted out to non Muslims, they remain “skeptical” and “scared” of a PAS ruled nation.

Appointing a Chinese “special officer ‘ and the setting up of “ Chinese and Indians supporters clubs” , laudable no doubt but are not bringing in the desired results. PAS knows this.

Even the idea of opening up the party to non Muslims have resulted in many questions being asked rather than more answers being provided. And we all know what happened to the
“electoral pact” between Pas and the other opposition parties.

The trouble is , PAS wants to have the cake and the icing as well. The reality is they can’t.
PAS must choose one. If I’m running the party ( which I am not ) PAS should be bold enough to say “ we want to rule the nation the Islamic way” .

Even if that mean no non Muslims support and losing the general elections. In fact PAS President Tuan guru Haji Hadi Awang did say sometime ago that his party would rather lose the elections than compromised its “principles”. Sadly along the way things waver, although no fault of Haji Hadi but rather due to “ political necessities” .

Having said that I say this.—although PAS claim to be an “Islamic party” , it is now very much a
Muslim/Malay party with a very small number of non Malay Muslims members.

Hence the party should recruit Muslims of Chinese, Indian and other origins as party members.
Only then can PAS declare themselves a an all Muslim party. They might not rule the nation but they can be a strong force in Muslim majority areas. That’s what I believe .But then what do I know….

TRULY MALAYSIAN.

My uncle Allahyarham Omar Bin Jani (or OBJ as we called him based on
his initials ) loved to tell me this.
He said during Chinese New Year ,OBJ stood for Ong Beng Juan .
During Deepavali , it was Omsiva Balan Jega
And during Christmas, OBJ was for Oswald Benedict Jeffrey .

To us OBJ was for Orang Bukan Jahat and Orang Banyak Jasa.
May ALLAH bless his soul.

BLOG OH BLOG ……

In other words, what the Information minister said was “Do pay attention to bloggers” .
But then…..

And now…..

THE END…..????

Dr. Kua's Book

I’m not about to discuss the content except to turn your attention to a paragraph in page 6 which read as follows;

'' .........,UMNO Youth organized a rally at the SULTAN SULAIMAN STADIUM in Kuala Lumpur atwhich racist and seditious slogans were carried in banners ..........''.

What I want to highlight is the venue of the rally.

There’s no SULTAN SULAIMAN STADIUM in Kuala Lumpur as mentioned by Dr.Kua Kia Soong in his book.

In Kampung Baru Kuala Lumpur , there’s a Sultan Sulaiman CLUB ( Kelab Sultan Sulaiman ).Yes the club have a padang which is definitely not a stadium.

I’m very well aware of the rally Dr Kua was referring to and it was held at RAJA MUDA STADIUM. In Kampung Baru Kuala Lumpur.
It was originally known as TPCA stadium TPCA being acronym for Tamilian Physical and Cultural Association.

Petty ? But for a book which claimed to be “ the first credible account of the May 13 1969 racial riots in Malaysia using documents recently declassified at ther Public Records Office London”, such simple factual error is , disappointing , to say the least. To me lah..

I like the way the NST article ended...Sort of a poser...
And posers are open to interpretation.

At a glance, it could very well mean Parti Keadilan Raykat will close shop, bungkus, gulung tikar – the final blow being Ezam Mohamad Noor's departure ...
Ezam afterall was a party strongman.

But looking back at the road Parti Melayu Semangat 46 took , there were several interesting events prior to the folding of the party.

One was the departure of Semangat 46 strongman Datuk Paduka Ibrahim Ali.
He then rejoined UMNO and was credited as the man responsible for paving the way for Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and all of his men back into the UMNO fold – enbloc albeit . formalities like application forms etc.Only then was Semangat 46 declared defunct.

So is that the road PKR will follow? Or is this just another example of “sama tetapi tak serupa”, similar but not the same ? .

DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM ? ( 2 )

Heard this sometime ago. As usual took it upon myself to “readjust’.

A young executive, on his first day of work in a big corporation picked up the phone in his new posh office and shouted on top of his voice “ HOI, BRING ME SOME COFFEE”, thinking he was talking to the canteen operator.

But at the other end was not the canteen operator but the CEO himself .

“ Idiot. DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM ?”, the CEO shot back.” I’m, your CEO”.
Stunned the young exec asked sofly, “ Do you know who I am” ?

“NO”, replied the angry CEO.

“Good”, said the young executive and hung up.

YES NO ALRIGHT....

This was sent to me via email. But I took the liberty to somehow "rearrange" it just to drive home a point.

So here goes;

Siti wanted to break off with her MAT SALLEH boy friend but cant bring herself to meet the guy face to face.

So she wrote him a letter , in Bahasa at first , translated afterwards. The translated version was sent to her MAT SALLEH boy friend.

The letter goes like this.

Hai, tujuan aku menulis surat ini ialah untuk memberitahu kau sesuatu.
HAI MY MOTIVE WRITE THIS LETTER IS TO GIVE KNOW YOU SOMETHING.

Aku mahu putuskan hubungan kita.Aku sudah fikirkan masak masak
I WANT TO CUT CONNECTION US. I HAVE THINK ABOUT THIS VERY COOK COOK.

Aku tahu aku hanya bertepuk sebelah tangan.Benar aku ada nampak kau dengan si dia berdua di pekan dengan mata ku sendiri.
I KNOW I CLAP ONE HAND ONLY. .CORRECTLY I HAVE SEEN YOU AND SHE TOGETHER AT TOWN WITH EYES MYSELF.

Kau selalu meminta maaf kembali. Aku tidak percaya kau lagi.Kau benar benar buaya darat.
YOU ALWAYS ASK FOR APOLOGY BACK BACK .I DON'T TRUST YOU AGAIN.YOU ARE REALLY CROCODILE LAND.

Kawan ku kata kau main kayu tiga.Sekarang aku tahu kau benar benar main kau tiga..
MY FRIEND SPEAK YOU PLAY WOOD THREE. NOW I KNOW YOU CORRECT CORRECT PLAY WOOD THREE.

Oleh itu aku putuskan hubungan dan tarik diri daripada cinta tiga segi ini.
SO I BREAK CONNECTION TO PULL MY BODY FROM THIS LOVE TRIANGLE.

Aku tahu keputusan yang ku pilih ini betul kerana kau mencintainya lebih daripada ku.
I KNOW THIS RESULT I PICK IS VERY CORRECT BECAUSE YOU LOVE SHE VERY HIGH FROM ME.

Oleh itu aku putuskan untuk pergi jauh dari sini.
SO I BREAK OFF TO GO FAR FROM HERE.

Aku tidak mau mahu kau bermain dengan hati ku.
I DONT WANT YOU TO PLAY WITH MY LIVER.

Aku menangis sehingga tidak ada lagi air mata mengenangkan kau .
I HAVE BEEN CRYING UNTIL NO MORE EYE WATER THINKING OF YOU.

Aku tidak mau pisang berbuah dua kali.
I DONT WANT BANANA TO FRUIT TWO TIMES.

Selamat jalan.
SAFE WALK.

Far fetched ? Perhaps. But morale of the story …. the standard of English among our young, especially the Malays. The important question is -- whose fault is it ? And more importantly - what should be done ?

In Shah Alam, Nor Azimah Kamaruddin, a 40 year old mother of four was suffering from kidney ailment.

But she was "lucky" to have had a friend willing to give her one of his kidneys.

But Nor Azimah did not have the chance to have the transplant she had yearned for. The “laws” of the land didn’t let her.

Rule no.1. You can donate only after death. Meaning you can pledge now but the actual “ donation’ would take place when you you have passed away.

In the case of living donors, ( for kidney transplants) the Malaysian health authority was of the view that it can only be carried out if the donors and recipients are close family members. Folks regarded as " distant relatives" are also allowed

But for Nor Azimah - her donor was a friend of her husband. Hence no family ties. So no transplant. According to the Health ministry this “policy” was a result of " consensus reached by experts from government and private hospitals".

The reason for such a “policy” were many. For one - the ministry said there were alternative treatment for Nor Azima and others like her. Dialysis was one .

But dialysis was one treatment Nor Azima had been going for - three days per week. And it had cost her quite an amount in RM.

Another reason for the ministry to have come up with the “policy” was “ worry there will be people out to make money by selling their organs”. And by having the “regulation” the ministry hoped to halt such practice.

And on top of that the ministry wanted “ to safe guard the health and well being of donors”.

All disputed by Nor Azimah .

Baffling her was the fact that the government had embarked on a big campaign for people to donate organs. But when someone wanted to donate -- that was refused.

The waiting list for organs donated by people who have passed on was long.
So Nor azimah accepted the fact that she could not have the transplant in the country. But she know that such a transplant could be done elseway. Like in China. However that meant big money.

Her husband took her plight to TV3.The private television
station had earlier launched a fund raising exercise via a weekly programme which highlighted sufferings of people all
around the country.

The station was convinced Nor Azimah was a deserving case. And they helped. Still the money given was not enough.

Then Nor Azimah got lucky. Her plight somehow caught the attention of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. And it was through the Deputy Prime Minister’s “intervention”, the extra cash needed was raised.

She went to China and had what was said to be a successful kidney transplant. Which brings us to All Blacks legend Jonah Lomu.

The giant of a winger is playing rugby again.

Although he will not realized his dream of playing in the World Cup again, the fact is he’s playing.

And that itself is a miracle - considering three years ago it looked as if Lomu will never play rugby ever again - because of kidney disease.

But like Nor Azimah, Jomu was also lucky to have a friend - Grant Kereama - who was willing to give him one of his kidneys. But unlike Nor Azimah, he had the chance to undergo a kidney transplant in 2004.

To use an over used clich̩ Рand the rest is history.

nb.

On December 2006 Nor Azimah passed away of, according to her husband “ tuberculosis”. He insist kidney failure was not the cause of death.

Sandwich Man

Which brings us to this story which I picked up somewhere and “rearranged” to suit local environment and current situation.

Its about a good looking lad from Damansara who had everything going for him. At only 28, he was already making good money as a top executive in a big corporation .He dabbled into the stock market with much success. Hence he lived in the fast lane – driving fancy cars, partying and always surrounded by beautiful girls.

Then the stock market crashed. His world crashed with it. He lot money, lots if it. He could not concentrate on his job. He slid further and was given the boot. He found himself in the dumps. His money, cars and girls all disappeared. No one wanted to be his friend anymore. Finally he decided to end it all. He wanted to commit suicide. But before that he had to do the night club scene one last time. He wanted one last drink. Then he would take his own life.

So he went to one his favourite watering hole in Bangsar .He used to be a regular there. He sat at the bar, ordered his favourite Jack Daniels and paid with all the cash he had on him. He sipped the drink slowly, reminiscing the “glorious years ”. Oh how he really missed those great days and nights ( especially the nights ). What he wouldn’t do to get it all back again.

Suddenly an old woman appeared in front of him She had bad teeth, unkept hair and bad body odour .In short she was ugly. She asked him what was wrong. The lad told her his sad story.

Then the ugly woman whispered into his ears. “I am a fairy and I can bring back your good life. But with one condition. You must make love to me. Not just wham and bang but really make passionate love to me”.

The lad looked at the woman but just as he was about to turn away the thoughts of his previous good life came back to mind. So despite her ugliness, bad teeth and smell, the handsome lad agreed.

He left the club with the ugly old woman in his arms to the stares and sneer of the club’s patrons – almost all knew him. “Go ahead laugh. But after tonight I’ll be rich again and we’ll see who’s laughing ” ,the lad them..

They checked in at a cheap hotel and to make a long story short – the lad made love to the ugly old woman. It was a passionate, torrid and lusty session of love making.
After what was like hours later, the loving making reached its climax. The couple lie in bed ,the lad exhausted, the woman smiling obviously very satisfied.

“ Ok.now make me rich again”, the lad told the woman.
“How?,”asked the woman..
“Use your magic wand. You are a fairy for God’s sake”, said the lad, rather annoyed.
The woman then asked, “ My dear, just how old are you?”.
“Twenty eight “, replied the lad.
The old ugly woman then turned, faced the lad, looked at him in the eyes and said,
“ AND YOU STILL BELIEVE IN FAIRIES ? ”.

Morale of the story? Forget fairies and magic wand.
Listen to the sandwich man. He gives good advice.

Do You Know Who I Am ?

Read this somewhere but took the liberty once again to “improvised”......

There was a very long queue at the local bank.

The teller was trying her best to speed things up.

Suddenly a well known Tan Sri appeared , “ cut through” the long line of customers and went straight in front .

“Here, cash this for me FAST “, said the TAN SRI to the teller, pushing a cheque through the window at the counter.

But the teller told the Tan Sri to instead queue up just like everyone else.

Angered the Tan Sri shouted : DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM ? “.

The teller kept her cool, reached for the microphone of the PA system of the bank and said “ Attention everyone. If anybody know this gentleman here please help, He has lost his memory and DO NOT KNOW WHO HE IS “.

There’s more ..But despite the freedom of the blogsphere, let’s not go into that. End of story.

The Right to smoke.

It is not a question of giving up. But I believe if smokers want to smoke let them. Lest they kill us all with secondary smoke.

No smoking regulations are being broken blatantly with nothing much can be done to arrest the problem. True more and more places are being declared no smoking areas in many countries…
(insert graphics child right anti smoking) But we’re talking about Malaysia here…

So are smokers a bunch of “inconsiderates”? No. Smokers smoke because they have to. It’s because of the URGE.

That’s why a loving father, carrying his baby but with a cigarette dangling in his lips.Of course he knows the smoke from his cigarette is bad for his kid. And not that he doesn’t love his baby. But he smokes anyway.

Smokers know what their habit does to their health. They know about the cancer, the impotency, the what have you. Never mind the steep prices . If cancer and stroke don’t scare them what 's a few extra ringgit. Heavy penalty attached to no smoking zones is no good either.

Let's face it. Smokers want to stop smoking but they can't. So they puff everywhere passing on the fumes to be inhaled by non smokers who are told by the good doctor that secondary smoke is worst than what smokers drag into their lungs). And according to reports, more youngsters, girls and boys are picking up the habit. Preventing kids from smoking is as hard as wanting to quit smoking itself. You can bet on that.
After all kids nowadays are surrounded by "influences" -- urging them to have the urge. From parents and friends who puff right down to believing it's cool to puff.

So what should the authorities do ?.. The " Tak Nak" campaign is a failure. That we all agree. Future campaigns should be designed to prevent the smoker population from getting bigger. In short the aim of the campaign is to ensure there are no new smokers. Easier said than done you say. Indeed it is. But with the millions of ringgit available -- surely those blessed enough to be awarded contracts to run the campaign - can be counted on to deliver the goods this time.

As for current smokers, I say it again. Let them smoke instead of nagging and bugging them non stop to stop.

But in the comfort of designated areas and in the companionship of fellow smokers. You know the glass rooms found in some airports abroad?. If I am not mistaken there's one at the our very own Kota Kinabalu airport. Let's have more such rooms in shopping complex, offices, hotels. That way smokers get to satisfy their urge and they won't be hurting others in the process ( if I may repeat -- secondary smoke doctors say is worst than what the smoker inhale).

But I am not suggesting we give up on trying to get smokers off the habit. One day they will quit -- on their own free will. Like I did, after smoking 20 cigarettes per day for years. And its been more than six long years since I last lighted my last fag. Yes I quit but only after I was involved in a bad road accident on July 6 2001. I was lucky to be alive. But my five month old son was not. It took the death of my son to make me quit smoking.

AL FATIHA to Muhamad Aqil.

KJ

It must be among the most famous initials in the country…. especially of late.

But just who KJ is depends on who you talk to and where ….

For instance, ask members of Parti Keadilan Rakyat, then KJ is Khalid Jaafar, former Press Secretary of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when he was DPM. Khalid was Keadilan Information Chief but not anymore. However he’s still in the party.

In PAS, KJ means Kamaruddin Jaafar. MP for Tumpat Datuk Kamaruddin is PAS Secretary General.

Even in in the media fraternity, there’s a KJ. The initials stand for Kadir Jasin, former NST Group Editor in Chief., but usually with an “A” in front for Abdul. Datuk Abdul Kadir Jasin now among other things blog .

But the most famous KJ must surely be Khairy Jamaluddin ,Deputy UMNO Youth Chief
and son in law of Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, PM of Malaysia......
